For those who live and work here

What’s a newspaper for in the third decade of the 21st century? We believe it’s there to connect its readers to the people, services and events around them. To enrich their lives with hidden gems, practical tips, diversion or simple amusement. To do the hard Googling and the research so they don’t have to. To offer an antidote to endlessly stroking a smartphone.

Every fortnight that’s what Wharf Life does in Canary Wharf and the areas that surround it. From Stratford in the north to Deptford in the south, Woolwich in the east and Wapping in the west, we seek out the individuals, companies and charities that make up, shape and create the communities they operate in. People that can make our readers’ lives better, locally.

Taking the time

We believe in slow journalism – meeting the interviewees we feature face-to-face where possible. We never conduct interviews by email. Our photography is commissioned from a dedicated team of professionals and we’re proud to produce our publication on the patch we cover.

Whether it’s arts and events from Canary Wharf Group, the exacting cuts of Jon Hala, the explosive gains of a workout at Third Space or the sounds and flavours of Boisdale in Canary Wharf, we celebrate the best the estate has to offer.

Going further

Beyond its borders, we’re delighted to showcase innovative businesses and organisations whether that’s NASSA’s charitable work with young people in Royal Docks, the sweet treats of The Fudge Patch in Greenwich Market, the effortless chic of Edy & Bridge in Deptford, the honeyed beers of Hiver in Bermondsey, the exquisite fizz of Champagne Route in Wapping or the tireless regeneration work at Cody Dock in Bow.

Check them out, then read our next issue – they’re the tip of the iceberg.

Call it home

Our clear focus on lifestyle would be incomplete without helping our readers find places to live locally. That’s the purpose of our property supplement, connecting them to the developers shaping this extraordinary part of the capital as well as professional services firms such as Kidd Rapinet Solicitors and estate agents to help people buy or rent homes in Docklands and east London.
